Review of the Epson FastFoto FF-680W photo scanner

8 August 2019 | Comments [6] »

As I mentioned in a post earlier this week, I’ve been organizing and scanning my photos from the 80s and 90s, primarily. The project was prompted by the discovery of a cache of photos in a closet and given a little urgency by the offer of a loan of an Epson FastFoto FF-680W photo scanner in exchange for a review.

Letting photo organizing be easy

5 August 2019 | Comments [1] »

Last February, I cleaned out a closet in my home and found a box of photos from my pre-digital-camera life that I had completely forgotten about. Right around that time, I heard from a rep from Epson offering me a loan of an Epson FastFoto photo scanner so I could try it out and blog about it. (Later this week, I’ll post that review.)

Worth repeating: How not to label a photo

15 September 2017 | Comments [0] »

I wrote this post in 2013 and came across it again today. I think the advice is still good. Even if you’re working with digital, not printed, photos, creating good labels (in the metadata) is a good practice. It makes the photos much more valuable for generations to come.

I blogged over at Organize Your Family History about the importance of labeling photos while the information is fresh in your mind. It’s also important to make the labels meaningful.

10 February 2016 | Comments [0] »

Last summer, I blogged about SHOTBOX, a tabletop photo light studio that was part of a Kickstarter campaign. I purchased one and it arrived in December, just when my puppy arrived. So I haven’t played with it as much as I’d like. But I’m impressed by it.

App of the week: Over

28 September 2012 | Comments [0] »

On Facebook, I frequently see photos with captions right on the picture and I wonder how the caption got there. (I also wonder how people upload clips of TV shows onto You Tube, but that’s another question.)

Focus on what you've accomplished, not what's yet to be done

29 August 2012 | Comments [0] »

I did the first of what will be a number of team organizing jobs for a client recently. In that first session, my five-person team made some amazing progress. It seemed like life-changing progress. I was thrilled.

The ritual of holiday cards

22 November 2006 | Comments [1] »

It’s November, so my mind starts thinking about the holidays and, more specifically, about holiday cards. My husband and I don’t really do Christmas, but I do always send out cards to a long list of people. For some of those folks, it’s the only time of year I communicate with them.
