Meet my latest employee!

10 June 2022 | Comments [1] »

Lydia is a sculptor with a great spatial sense and great design sense (two things I lack!). She loves the visual peace that comes with an organized space. She’s compassionate and empathetic. I think she’ll be a great addition to the Peace of Mind Organizing team. She’ll work with Beth and with me and other team members (who are independent contractors).

Many hands make light work

I love leading organizing teams. The amount of work we can get done in a short period of time amazes me. Back in 2012, I wrote a blog post called Working with an organizing team that outlined some of the advantages of hiring an organizing team, rather than a single organizer. Eight years later, all of that is still true!

Worth repeating: Maintaining order

I love doing whole-house transformations. That’s when my team and I come in and create order in every room of a client’s home. We’re working side by side with the client, decluttering and organizing in ways that work for them.

Introducing Amy Hubbard, my first employee

20 August 2018 | Comments [0] »

This month, I took what feels like a big step and hired my first employee, Amy Hubbard. Amy will be working with me as an organizer. She’ll be a team member, a team leader, and also work one-on-one with clients. She’ll be working part-time for me, because she also works as a freelance makeup artist. Amy is a natural-born organizer with a beautiful aesthetic and has a lovely, calm demeanor. She’s terrific.

Worth repeating: Working with an organizing team

24 April 2017 | Comments [1] »

I started leading organizing teams in 2008, but it was a relatively rare occurrence. By 2013, I’d renamed my team organizing service OPERATION: PEACE OF MIND and more than half my client appointments were teams. Now, I work almost exclusively by leading organizing teams. (And occasionally I send out teams that are led by experienced team members.) I find that the synergy of the team makes a team organizing session more than the sum of its parts. For those clients who can handle the fast pace, team organizing allows for swift and dramatic change. It’s rewarding for the client and for the organizers. I love it!

Worth repeating: An empty drawer is a beautiful thing

11 January 2016 | Comments [1] »

My team and I helped a client declutter and organize her entire home last week and we were able to make a huge impact—because the client parted with so much. She was so ready to let go of the excess that was weighing her down and she made amazing decisions. As we took out bag after bag of denotable items, the rooms seemed to get lighter.

Introducing Operation: Relocation!

8 September 2015 | Comments [0] »

One of the many rewarding things I do as a professional organizer is help clients move and settle into their new homes. Since I have amazing team members at my disposal, I can put together a team that can help clients get their new homes unpacked and organized within just a few sessions. That takes away so much of the stress of moving.

I wrote this blog post in February 2012, and it’s more true now than ever. I’ve renamed my team organizing OPERATION: PEACE OF MIND and these days I’m doing more team organizing than one-on-one organizing. The results are amazing!

Six years of blogging

I started my blog on November 10, 2006. I was in Barbados on my blog’s actual anniversary, so didn’t post about it that day. But today, I thought I’d do my annual blogiversary post.

Working with an organizing team

14 February 2012 | Comments [0] »

When I started my organizing business in 2005, I exclusively worked one-on-one with clients. It’s intimate, fulfilling, valuable work. But it can be really slow. And that means progress is harder to see and it can become discouraging for the client.
